Give Us Feedback: Is Marijuana really a drug?

Is it really a drug? Or is it that the government hasn't figured out how to control it 100% yet?

It's already being slanged as a "prescription". So far the government is making out pretty good on it.

How could they say that it serves medical purposes and then say it's an illigal substance?

What do you guys use it for? Isn't it just a relaxant? I think these drug commecials and certain tv shows/movies blow it way out of proportion.

How many of you have done something that you've never done before just cuz you smoked a joint?

Personally, never. I'm still able to function as a productive member of society.

What makes it a drug? Is it just cuz the government says it's a drug that makes it a drug?

Now, meth, coke, heroine, crack, acid tabs, 'shroom sticks, extacy...those are drugs.

I agree with Kiko. It's an herb. They give you the bullshit that it's a gateway drug. Bullshit! How many potheads do you know that want to get off the couch, away from their munchies to go out and get crack? Better yet. How many potheads do you know that have the energy to get off their stoned asses to rob a bank? I'll admit that there are some people out there that when they smoke pot it gives them energy. My ex was one of those. But it wasn't a good thing, he screwed up the electrical in our entire house because he was stoned. Of course he fixed it when he got sober, but still.
Pot was legal once, no one bothered with it. Since prohibition it's been looked down upon. When in fact it's the over the counter drugs that are sold to us that kill us and are harmful. Look at the side effects!
Ok enough of that tirade.
When I was a kid I was a very angry kid. I'd say that since I started smoking pot when I was very young I've been able to control my temper more. I'm a kinder, less angry person now. :wink:

I agree. It is just a relaxant. I had Mary Jane when I was in High School. My buddies and I did it once in a while. But I know a lot of kids my time got addicted to it. They use it before they go visit girls because they couldn't face the girls when they are sober. It work for pussies, you know!

I don't get how anyone can get "addicted" to pot. The only way I see that being possible is if they have addictive personalities and if that's the case then they are probably addicted to EVERYTHING they come into contact with that makes them happy.
If they are pussies that couldn't talk to girls unless they were high then that's just sad. :cry:

I don't agree with the pothead/couch patatoe theory...

I've been employee of the month several times and I've been high as a kite most of the time. Granted you can't be high all the time in certain jobs. But for the most part, I perform pretty well when I'm high. I like to read books, watch movies, go hiking, rock climbing when I'm under the influence.

I think weed affects certain people different ways, but it's always up to the individual using it to let it grab a hold of you and not do a god damn thing. I know people that smoke and sit on their ass all day, but again...it's up to the person using it to not get caught up on it.

It's not a gateway drug. It comes down to the choices people make. If they decide they want to try some other drug, that's their choice, Mary Jane didn't force them to pick up a dirty habbit (coke/meth etc..)

Maybe you could share a joint or a bowl with a chick, but I don't think you need weed to talk to girls. That's just stupid!

Amsterdam is a place that you all should get to, at least once in your life.

Soft drugs (pot, hashish, etc.) are legal to purchase and possess under 5 grams. Coffee houses are interesting, as they have bars but don't serve alcohol. Rather, non-alcoholic beer, soft drinks, etc. Then have menus of all the herb available. Then you can go to the bars and clubs there, and smoke.

The other interesting thing, is now every there rides bicycles. I guess you cannot be convicted of DUI on a bike ...

I use weed to settle myself down when I'm tripping hard on mushrooms.

I thought drugs were manufactured or man made. Pot is an herb, you can grow it and smoke from plant to the paper.

Marinol is a synthetic form of THC, the main active ingredient in marijuana. Marinol is recognized by the government as a medicine for things like glaucoma. Marijuana is not. This is like saying vitamin C tablets from the store are benificial while outlawing oranges. Makes no damn sense at all. Actually when you look at governments perspective I guess it does make sense because who would pay the pharmaceutical company big bucks for the fake stuff when the real deal can be grown cheap. And if the big company doesn't make its money they won't be able to send campaign contributions to the politicians.

Many drugs have their roots in organics.

That said, I honestly don't think any drug should be illegal or controlled, thouhg I do encourage education about them. After that, if someone can't handle their own crap, it's their own damned fault.

Meth an "organic" drug????

Weed is okay when done once in a rare blue moon. You can smoke too much weed too and be a pothead. Didn't Leykis do a show about potheads before? We have a detox program on the floor I work on. I see a lot of young and middle aged men and women just wasting their time on drugs. I mean good looking, articulate men, that you wouldn't think would be there. It's not my job to comment on why they are there, but I want to sometimes.

there is nothing wrong w/ buds. ive smoked for a while and still function everyday perfectly

marijuana is good medication, just ask the many patients who are utilizing it for their pains

I'll light up a joint or pack a bowl after my work day is over. I work with dramatic ass chicks so a session is in order after a day's work.

mary jane isnt a drug to me. i know poeple,lots of people who smoke. it.though i never have,i neve saw anyone of them get out of control while in possession of it. the government needs to focus on the more fatal drug's out there like meth and coke. theres plent dealers around here. and i think:why arent the cops suspicious to check that random car of men at 1:00? they need to put the effort in. marijuana actually help people who are sick. it should be legal. what other drug can you say that about?:bigsmile:

Weed is illegal because the gov't can't put a tax on it. Think about it, in the U.S. we have the freedom to do whatever we want as long as it doesn't harm others. People don't get penalized for attempted suicide. If you smoke at home and order a pizza, you're not hurting anyone. But our government likes to have control over everything and they can't control the selling and distribution of pot. :cry:

Legalization would free up law enforcement resources. The ATF should regulate weed.

That's overly redundant thing to say. Almost everything can be addictive to people with weak self control..

Personally I don't smoke the stuff because it makes me throw up, but I don't see whats wrong with someone having one here and there if it takes the edge off when they get home from work.

Marijuana is a weed, a living thing, until you dry it out and smoke it. Then it distorts your brain mechanisms and often makes one hungry and/or paranoid. Has anyone tried drying out their garden weeds and smoked them just to see what would happen? I imagine so.

What about the patients on chemotherapy? Those people cant hardly keep anything down after they eat. Weed is the VERY BEST ANTIEMETIC AND APPETITE ENHANCER OUT THERE!!! Who is telling me not to smoke weed? Is it the Government? Is it the drug companies? I go to my Doctor who has been to 8-12 years of college and he says "this is a good thing for your circumstance. This will help you get better faster if you use it the way I'm telling you to use it." But the Feds in all of there infinate wisdumb...has said in not so many words: WE DON'T GIVE A SHIT HOW MANY DOCTORS SAY THAT MARIJUANA HAS ITS PLACE IN MODERN SCIENCE, OR THAT IT IS A CHEAP WAY OF EXTENDING PEOPLES LIVES THAT ARE GOING THROUGH CANCER TREATMENT OR ANY OTHER TREATMENT. Alcohol is more of a gateway drug than weed for sure. The reason alcohol is legal and marijuana isn't is because you can drink socially and drinking can be done socially and it doesn't get you drunk if you just have 1.

Weed on the other hand, the sole purpose of smoking is to alter your mind, therefore making it illegal. Its the right wing folk you can thank for that.

Personally i smoke weed daily. I am a pharmacist so i am constantly giving drugs out to people all day and i do not see any difference with a person hooked on prescriptions and a pothead. The only difference is me smoking pot to relax doesn't always have the sexual side effects you can get from most anti depresants. (depending on how much you smoke)

Actually the main reason weed is illegal and booze is legal is racism. Weed was portrayed as what dirty mexicans smoked and used too corrupt innocent white women. Cocaine became illegal because it caused "negros" to become bulletproof monsters who would rape white women White people drank booze so other than the prohibition fuck up it is all good. I have done extensive research on this subject. I read an article on a microfilm copy of the NY Times back in the 20's that read exactly like a 90's article with the only diference being that in the 90's they replaced cocaine with crack. Funny that coke was no big deal in the 80's when it was white stockbrokers. Weed is illegal because it is not popular with the ruling elite.

I really don't get the "can only face girls while stoned" thing.
If anything I fuck up around girls when I'm stoned.
Which is why I usually only do it with the guys, or on my own.

the government is stupid, because there missing out on a huge tax opportunity, and everything that people say about pot to kids and teens are lies, its not a bad drug, i smoke all the time, iam a proud pot head. the government just needs to legalize it, because if they do that means all the pot heads can get out of prison and make room for realy criminals in jail instead of wasting jail space on harmless guys that like to smoke pot. plus if it is legalized the government could tax it, and they would make tons of money off of it.

The Feds went nuts on the drug war. Texas has nazi drug laws but fuck they have parole system that acutally works.

The Feds are determinate sentencing on the drug war. That is bad sentencing policy. If you get life from Feds on a drug charge, it is Life without Parole. Only murders and certain sex offender deserve that punishment (I am anti-death penatly).

So I am going to insert my voice into the drug war, and I calling from the return of Federal Parole that starts at 33% time served and mandatory release at 67% time served for non-violent criminals. Sex offenders do not get break under my system. Lifers get parole at 12 years and mandatory release at 24 years if they are charged with non-violent felony.

I do not want my tax dollars to lock up a bunch of drug addicts and to warehouse criminals. Warehousing criminals means the they turn into hard-core gangbangers and create a nightmare for the COs.

Therefore, it I go uber-leftist on this issue the real eason why I am doing this to cut prison spending and to retire some State debt.

if you like "crunchy" brownies,,be sure to clean all the sticks and seeds out, and not more than 1/4 ounce per brownie tray...the high seems to me to be more intense, but with the price of good smoke now, its cheaper to bong....

Its more neccessary than you think. The number one cause of disease and death is stress.
Relieve the stress. Smoke a little bit everyday and watch how much magic you experience from the simple things in your day. Also helps if you listen to your favorite music.

Balance is everything. If you drink too much you're an alcoholic. If you smoke too much you're a pot head. We all enjoy a glass of wine every now and then. Maybe a glass a day! Its good for you! Smoke a good hit every day. Enjoy your life.

would be better to have more Natural drugs that dont really effect people negatively.. like Marijuana..

but personally i want to try Marijuana to help my stress and anxiety, which i've heard helps wonders for that.. And i dont want to drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes.. I need some fast and natural, like herbs.. which Marijuana is.. :)
